Different photographers need different tools, so most editors include them all. You end up carrying every feature for every situation, whether it suits you or not. That is bloat, and you work around it every day.
How it works
Everything is an extension, even the built-in tools.
Change them, replace them, or remove the ones you never use, and they're gone for good, out of the menus and the render engine alike. Need something else? Install it, or build it yourself.

Nothing between you and the photograph.
Free and open source, with nothing locked away. With only the tools you reach for in front of you, the software gets out of the way, and your craft is free to go as far as you can take it.
